About ChicagoREgen.com

ChicagoREgen.com is our way of helping accelerate the local sustainability efforts by asking a single question: “What would it take to make the City of Chicago sustainable by 2025 with a high standard of living?”

Our name highlights our goal of becoming more then sustainable, but regenerative in the way we live. According to many, we are past the earth’s carrying capacity and now need to find ways to rebuild the earth’s systems that we depend on for our day to day needs, our economy and our very survival.

Our Mission: Furthering local resilience, improving awareness to the consequences of our actions, personal responsibility to those consequences and becoming regenerative in Chicago as  a model for other urban centers.

Here you can find articles from real Chicagoans about what they are doing to weave more sustainability practices into their life and sharing some of their knowledge, as well as passing along news and events information.  You’ll also find several resource pages which we hope you will contribute your knowledge to to make a great guide for Chicagoans as more and more people consider the implications of their actions.

Inspired by the way we’ve seen how open source software has helped the technology industry explode, our goal is to create an open source sustainability knowledge center for Chicagoans.  This platform is meant to encourage improvements, iterations and the building of ideas.   It is our hope that Chicago community members, will join in on the discussion, exchange ideas (big and small)  and take part in the action to move beyond sustainable to regenerative.

We would like to harness the creative genius that exists here in Chicago and highlight those people making efforts (big and small) to make a difference. We hope that you will join our efforts and engage in the dialog.

Please continue to check in as we continue to build ChicagoREgen.com!
