The mission of the Chicago Conservation Corps is to recruit, train and support a network of volunteers who work together to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods and schools through environmental service projects that protect our water, clean our air, restore our land and save energy.
Milton Dixon is a musician, educator, fermenter, forager and a Permaculturist. He lives in a cooperative in Rogers Park with his wife Rebecca and their two cats. He hopes that one day people will be able to give up their imaginary lives on TV and start living in the real world with real people.
Lauren D’Silva loves to write, travel and write about travel. She studied Tourism Management at Indiana University, with an emphasis on ecotourism and has made it her mission to promote sustainable travel and help protect the earth. She loves to swing dance, bake, crochet and trying her hand at amateur photography.
Lisa Elkins is the founder of 2 Point Perspective: architecture. A licensed architect, LEED AP, writer and educator, she is dedicated to creating sophisticated and eco-friendly architectural and interior spaces. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys practicing what she preaches in her own home in Lincoln Park with her husband, and 2 Point co-founder, Ron.
Joey Feinstein is the Executive Director for Climate Cycle. He had given little thought to climate change until he met a small town North Dakota farmer during a cross-country bicycle trip in 2000. This farmer shared his concerns about the shifts in weather and this conversation changed Joey’s life. After graduating from the Presidio School of Management with an MBA in Sustainable Management in 2007, he founded Climate Cycle.
Fresh Taste is a funder collaborative dedicated to encouraging diverse local agriculture and access to food that is healthy, green, fair and affordable in the Chicago region. Their aim is to provide leadership that brings stakeholders interested in healthy food in Illinois together to stimulate deeper conversations and increased investments of time and money, leading ultimately to changes in the manner by which food is produced, distributed and consumed in Illinois.
Bobbi Marstellar chose a new path after 15 years in corporate America; one that would allow her passions for writing and all things food to flourish. When she’s not feeding her appetite for delicious beauty, you can find her writing for Bob Vivant Media and Sweet Hive Chicago.
Taylor McKinley is an urban planner at the Center for Neighborhood Technology where he promotes more environmentally sustainable and economically viable community development. He enjoys running, writing and playing the drums.

Eric Michalsen is the organizer of the Chicago Primitive Skills Meetup. The meetup stemmed from his needs to find like-minded individuals who are interested in learning and honing primitive skills. Eric is also an online application developer and lives in a Western Suburb of Chicago.

Craig V. Robertson started recycling at a young age and used proceeds from recycled aluminum cans to buy his first computer. Now he uses technology to help other people recycle, through his website, ecycler.com, an online exchange that pairs people who have recyclables to give away with those who wish to collect them. Craig is an engineer at a Fortune 500 company and lives in Lake Forest with his wife and son.
Dan Schnitzer is the Director of Sustainability & Operations for Chicago’s Academy for Global Citizenship. Dan loves camping and hiking with his wife Alex and their dog Oban. He has spent time living and traveling internationally and completing his master’s degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Vanessa Smith engages with urban food production through keeping bees on a rooftop in West Town, chickens in her Logan Square back yard, gardening at different spaces, involvement in the Chicago Rarities Orchard Project (CROP) and more. Learning as she goes, she will keep you in touch with the latest developments of her projects.
Chuck Templeton is an entrepreneur, founder of OpenTable,Inc., investor, board member and technology advisor. When he’s not out meeting people and figuring out solutions to the environmental and social issues of today, he can be found playing outside with his wife and two daughters.
Peter Vitale is an attorney, real estate developer, and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP). He holds a B.A. from Notre Dame and a J.D. from the University of Colorado and is the Director of Development for the Academy of Global Citizenship.
Chuck VonDrehle is the V.P. of Sales and Engineering for the Chicago based, solar distributor PV Power LLC. He has managed the installation of over 1MW of projects and previously worked for one of the largest solar installers in the US market, Borrego Solar, managing their Silicon Valley office and the installation of residential photovoltaic systems in the bay area of California. Upon his return to Illinois, Chuck helped establish Harnetech as a solar energy installer in Chicago and designed commercial installations for Socore Energy. He is a passionate solar advocate, father, and outdoor enthusiast.
David Weiner is a Principal at Eco Print Mail, a sustainable communications firm in Palatine, IL specializing in toxin free mailing, printing, and educational programs. He taught in Japan for eleven years and worked with disciples of Fukuoka-sensei who wrote the natural farming classic, One Straw Revolution. David is currently a Board Member of the Organic School Project.
