The Story of Stuff

I recently watched Annie Leonard’s “The Story of Stuff.” I’d heard about it here and there and it wasn’t until Chuck emailed the link, that I actually watched it. It’s a 20 minute video that explains the “materials economy” and puts into perspective how much as a nation we are actually consuming.

I love the way it’s illustrated and easy to understand, because it’s a huge topic and I thought the way they simplified this theory was well done. Some of the facts are staggering and scary, like how there is over 100,000 synthetic chemicals in use in commerce today and how the food at the top of the food chain with with highest level of many toxic contaminants is human breast milk.

What it boils down to is we are consuming way too much, our National happiness is declining and we are running out of resources!
